Community Guidelines
Last updated: 2026-06-29
HashtagPLUS, operated by an individual at hashtagplus.com (the “Service”), is a place to share links and have good discussions. These Community Guidelines apply to everyone — registered and anonymous users — and are part of our Terms of Service. The Service is for adults 18 and older.
1. What We Encourage
- Share interesting, relevant links with a clear, honest caption.
- Discuss in good faith. Be civil, stay on topic, and assume good intent.
- Tag accurately. Use hashtags that genuinely describe the content.
- Credit sources and link to the original where possible.
- Report problems instead of escalating them.
2. Prohibited Content and Behavior
Do not post, link to, or promote:
- Illegal content or activity — anything unlawful under applicable law, or facilitating it.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualization of minors — ZERO TOLERANCE. This is removed immediately, the account is permanently banned, and we report it to the appropriate authorities (e.g., NCMEC) as required by law. There is no appeal for CSAM.
- Sexually explicit material (SFW-only Service) — HashtagPLUS is a safe-for-work (SFW) Service. Pornographic, sexually explicit, or other not-safe-for-work content is not permitted. CSAM is absolutely prohibited under the zero-tolerance policy above.
- Harassment, bullying, or threats — targeting individuals, coordinated harassment, or incitement of violence.
- Hate speech — attacks or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Doxxing — posting private or personally identifying information about others without consent.
- Spam and manipulation — repetitive or low-value posting, vote manipulation, fake engagement, sockpuppet/bot accounts, ban evasion, SEO spam, or affiliate-link spamming.
- Malware, phishing, and scams — links to malicious software, credential-harvesting pages, deceptive downloads, or fraud.
- Intellectual-property and copyright violations — infringing content, or links whose primary purpose is to distribute infringing material. See our DMCA Policy.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, brand, or organization in a misleading way.
- Misuse of automated/AI features — deliberately gaming hashtag generation or other automated systems.
3. Hashtag and Tagging Rules
Hashtags help people discover content. Keep them honest:
- No tag stuffing — don’t add unrelated or excessive hashtags to boost reach.
- No misleading tags — don’t tag content as something it isn’t (e.g., clickbait or fake-topic tagging).
- No tag squatting or manipulation — don’t flood a tag, hijack a trending tag, or coordinate to distort what a tag means.
- Respect automated tags. The Service may auto-generate hashtags; do not abuse the feedback or suggestion features to manipulate them.
4. Moderation and Enforcement
We enforce these Guidelines at our discretion, taking into account severity, intent, and history. Typical enforcement steps escalate as follows:
- Content removal — the offending post, comment, or tag is removed or hidden.
- Warning — a notice that your behavior violated these Guidelines.
- Temporary restrictions — rate limiting, a “penalty box,” or temporary suspension of posting/commenting.
- Account suspension — your account is locked for a period.
- Permanent ban — your account is terminated and you may not create a new one.
Severe violations (such as CSAM, credible threats, or doxxing) may result in immediate removal and a permanent ban without prior warning, and may be reported to law enforcement. We may also remove content or restrict accounts to comply with the law or protect users.
5. Reporting
If you see content or behavior that violates these Guidelines, report it using the in-product reporting tools, or contact us at [email protected]. Reports involving child safety or imminent harm are prioritized. Please include links and a brief description so we can act quickly.
6. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was a mistake, you may appeal by contacting [email protected] with your username and the details of the action. We will review appeals in good faith. Appeals are not available for CSAM violations. Our decisions on appeals are final.
7. Changes
We may update these Guidelines as the community and the Service evolve. We will update the effective date above when we do.
