Sale makes ‘Jodi’, a smaller relative of T rex, the ‘second most valuable dinosaur ever sold at auction’, Sotheby’s says

The sale of the rare skeleton reignites debate in the scientific community about whether dinosaur remains should end up in private hands or public view.

In October last year, paleontologists decided Nanotyrannus was a distinct genus. Now, one specimen is coming to market.

A rare Nanotyrannus skeleton named Jodi sold for $47.3 million at Sotheby’s, just shy of the dinosaur auction record.
