I bought this Celestron about 3 years ago but haven't used it very often. As a result, the mirror looks a bit dusty. Should I clean it, or is it not worth the effort? submitted by /u/_omer811_ [link] [comments]

For some reason current manufacturers love the making the 10in dobsonian fast, f/5 is MAX. NO IDEA why. Harder to collimate. Coma starts to be annoying. Need higher end eyepieces. And for what? its a 10in it shouldnt be as portable as the 8in.…

Hey, so I got a Celestron 8SE that I've used for years. I bought a skyportal WIFI module for it, I'm using a 12v power supply and when I turn it on, the hand control is fully responsive and the scope slews properly.…

Planning 3/4” square tubing frame, 1/8” sheet steel base plates with adjustable feet, thrust bearing, 1/4-20 bolts to attach the sides, rear, and base, breaks down into five pieces with nine bolts. Is this a bad idea?…

This would be my first telescope. Just trying to dip my toes in on a budget. Found this C8 that based on others posts has good optics and is a good scope.…

Curious to hear your thoughts on either of these scopes and whether either of these offers are a good buy. Orion Sky Quest Intelliscope XT 10 vs.…

First time using a telescope in my life last night with my newly-purchased (uncollimated, but seems reasonably aligned as delivered) StellaLyra 8" f/6.…

Best image ive been able to take of jupiter with a 20mm lense using my bushnell model 78-9512. Unfortunately i have nothing to stabilize my phone so its pretty hard to take pictures with my hands If anyone has any upgrade suggestions for me to take higher…

Long story short, looking for my first aperture upgrade after years of owning a small telescope. I found this 8 inch maxvision dobsonian but there's also a 10 inch version nearby.…

This is my first attempt at astrophotography. Using a Orion sky view EQ. A Newtonian scope with an 8” aperture and 1000mm focal length. Using a 9mm lens with a 13% tint lunar filter on 99 percent illuminated moon.…

Earths sister as seen from last night at 80% illumination. UV details in venus’s atmosphere were really popping due to good seeing conditions.…

I got a great deal on a used 8 inch Dobsonian. The only downside was serious water damage, all the missing parts, and a mirror that looked like something evil happened on it.…

I have been thinking to buy this telescope for a month, and I have some questions as a complete beginner. Are there better options?I want to see nebulas and galaxies, even if they look like stain.I leatned things like stacking etc. When im stacking or etc.…

I recently got my first telescope—a skywatcher heritage 150p—and these are the first few pictures I’ve taken with it. I noticed that when I was taking photos of Jupiter I could somewhat see its orange rings irl through the telescope, but in the picture it…

I got a StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ for graduation yesterday, and i cannot see a single thing. I tried looking at a distant object, like a tree or something during the day, but even that looks extremely blurry.…

So I'm very new, and was a little bored last night, so I took out my very first telescope (which I bought simply for the moon last year, but wanted to try it out for something else today) and aimed it at something bright in the sky.…
