What would it take to build a Next.js-like developer experience in Go + WebAssembly?

JavaScript developers can use the same language in the browser and on the server. As someone who primarily writes Go, I’d love to have that option from the other direction.

Imagine a framework where you write components and application logic in Go, with:

  • Reactive state and composable UI components.
  • File-based routing and layouts.
  • Server-rendered HTML, with Go compiled to WebAssembly for browser interactivity.
  • Shared types and typed calls between client and server.
  • A development loop that feels as convenient as React/Next.js.

The appeal to me is using Go’s language and tooling throughout an application.

For other Go developers: would you actually choose something like this? What would it need to offer before you’d consider it over a Go backend with a TypeScript frontend?
