This was the moment hundreds of students and protesters stormed Rome’s Colosseum on Saturday (24 October) in demonstrations against Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government and the war in Gaza.
Waving Palestinian flags, protesters chanted “Tout le monde déteste la police” – French for “Everyone hates the police” – as they entered the capital of Italy’s most historic landmark.
Thousands of young people also took to the streets in cities across the country including Milan, Rome and Turin.
Soldiers were deployed in Milan following violent clashes during protests earlier in the week.
