uBlock Origin Facebook Ad Blocking Browser Extensions

uBlock Origin's team says it will no longer chase Facebook's constantly-changing ad-detection code.

If ads have started slipping past uBlock Origin on Facebook after years of a clean, ad-free feed, it isn't a bug on your end. The small volunteer team behind the ad blocker has decided to stop playing what one member called an exhausting game of whack-a-mole with Facebook specifically, after years of the platform tweaking its code to slip ads past uBO's filters.

What actually changed: uBlock Origin isn't ripping out its existing Facebook ad filters, but its developers say they will no longer keep updating them every time Facebook finds a new way around them.…
