Hi all, Never worked with brushed aluminium before and I'm trying to refurbish some car trim. I managed to sand and remove all of the existing clearcoat, but unfortunately went a little too aggressively in one area. I've been trying to restore the same uniform finish with a scotch pad and various grits of sandpaper with a wet and dry approach (320, 400, 600,800,2000,2500) whilst following the direction of the brush/grain but nothing seems to be able to blend in the top right hand edge area to restore the matt finish to match the rest of it. I'm planning to clearcoat these, I'm assuming I need to sort this out beforehand otherwise as the clearcoat won't hide it either? Any tips appreciated. I'm hoping there's a technique that will maybe save me from having to sand the whole thing? Thanks submitted by /u/ThreeFiddyZed [link] [comments]
