Choosing between Flutter and native development is often presented like a framework debate.
It usually is not.
For a startup, the more useful question is:
Which approach gives this product the best balance of speed, performance, maintainability, team capability, and long-term flexibility?
I have seen too many comparisons reduce the decision to:
Flutter is cheaper
Native is faster
Cross-platform is better for startups
Native is better for serious products
Those statements are too broad to be useful.
The right choice depends on the product.
Start with the product, not the framework
Before comparing Flutter with native development, I would first look at:
What does the app actually need to do?
How much platform-specific functionality is involved?
How complex is the UI?
How important is time to market?
What kind of performance does the product require?
How large is the development team?
What happens after the MVP?
How likely is the app to depend on device APIs?
These questions matter more…
