AllStar JR ’s legal team is seeking to delay his federal firearm trial. On Monday (June 22), the Detroit rapper’s attorney, John M. Helms, filed a motion for a 60-day continuance, which would move the trial start date from July 7, 2026 to September. Court documents obtained by Complex show that Helms has requested the postponement so “that defense counsel will have time to review discovery, investigate the case, confer with Defendant, and determine whether the case can be resolved without trial.” In late April, JR was charged in connection with a restaurant shooting that reportedly involved NBA Ben10. JR is accused of opening fire inside a Houston restaurant in early April and is facing federal gun charges after investigators say the incident was caught on surveillance video.
