My dad has $100k in a checking account. He’s never made any investments and does not have a high yield savings account. He had a health scare and no longer works. He’s turned to me to help invest his money so that he can have some growth to live off of. I’m assuming he has a retirement account that he can’t touch at the moment.
Where should I start regarding the $100k sitting in his checking account? I was thinking about a high yields savings account and maybe going through fidelity for an individual brokerage account.
Looking for some specific advice to help my dad, thanks in advance.
Edit: Removing my assumption. This is his life savings and all he has left. Where do I go from here? I’m far away from him and can’t sit down to work this out immediately. Just trying to outline a plan in the meantime. TIA
Edit 2: Thank you everyone for the many comments.…
