Count underway in Cardiff as voters elect members of Senedd

Welsh Labour leader and First Minister Eluned Morgan is expected to lose her Senedd seat in the Welsh elections.

Her defeat triggers a leadership contest, as Senedd rules mandate that only a sitting Member of the Senedd ( MS ) can lead a party.

Welsh Labour anticipates retaining only around 10 seats in the Senedd, marking a disastrous night for the party.

The party acknowledged the loss of several respected MSs and expressed deep disappointment at not being able to form a government.

Labour plans to regroup and rebuild its vote, facing challenges from Reform, Plaid Cymru, and the Green Party.
