Dead Man’s Bones , the spectral rock duo of Ryan Gosling and screenwriter Zach Shields, are planning a comeback 17 years after their first and only album . Eva Mendes, Gosling’s wife, started teasing the return yesterday in a post designed to “summon new music from DEAD MAN’S BONES.” She followed it with two spooky visuals—one cross-posted with the new Dead Man’s Bones Instagram page —in which a voice ominously intones a spell to conjure the project for a twilight dance on October 27.
The original Dead Man’s Bones album was a 2009 collaboration with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir , a California education organization founded by Flea. The duo has lain dormant since its promotional run behind that LP, though one of its songs, “ Pa Pa Power ,” found its way onto Cat Power’s 2022 album Covers .
