Martin Lewis has met with John Healey to present recommendations ahead of the government's upcoming Budget.

The Money Saving Expert founder predicts an intervention package to help vulnerable households tackle a forecast 25 per cent rise in energy prices in January.

Lewis suggested doubling the £150 Warm Home Discount and potentially scrapping standing charges on energy bills.

His key requests also include reversing plans to freeze student loan repayment thresholds and protecting state pension earnings from net losses.

Lewis acknowledged the severe financial constraints facing the government, noting the difficulty of delivering meaningful cost-of-living relief without major funding.
