After evacuating during Flat Fire last year, a Sisters family launched a smoked seasoning company over the summer to give back to local firefighters and first responders.

When the Flat Fire forced Leslie Pade and her family to evacuate their Sisters home, they watched firefighters run toward the flames they were fleeing.

That experience ignited Fire Proof Salt & Seasoning Co., a small-batch smoked seasoning business created out of gratitude for the firefighters and first responders who saved the Pade home from the Flat Fire.

Founders Leslie and Dru Pade, who have lived in Sisters for over a decade, launched Fire Proof at the Sisters Farmers Market over the summer and have sold their seasoning blends at dozens of events and markets across Central Oregon.…
