One of the World’s newest luxury cruise companies is anding to luxury river cruising in an ability to expand it’s market. Explora Journeys, the luxury cruise brand from MSC Group, is officially making the jump from the world’s oceans to Europe’s rivers. The company has signed a Letter of Intent with Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard to construct its first luxury river ships.

Explora isn’t simply another river cruise company launching another variation of the familiar 150-passenger European river ship. At least, I hope not. I am hoping they are doing with river like they are doing in Ocean and really re-inventing it!

If Explora can translate what it has done successfully at sea to a smaller river ship, it has the potential to shake up a segment that has become somewhat predictable.
