Orlando Magic have sacked head coach Jamahl Mosley following their dramatic first-round playoff exit , which saw them squander a 3-1 series lead against the Detroit Pistons.

The decision came on Monday, a day after their Game 7 defeat.

This marks the third consecutive season the Magic have been eliminated in the first round, despite navigating the play-in round to secure the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The collapse was particularly stark in Game 6, where Orlando surrendered a 24-point home lead on Friday, scoring just 19 points in the second half, allowing Detroit to level the series at 3-3 and force a decisive Game 7.

Following Sunday's elimination, Mosley accepted full responsibility for the series' outcome.
