Eleanor Barnfield died after allegedly being stabbed (South Wales Police)

Eleanor Barnfield, 47, died in hospital after crashing her car while attempting to drive herself to hospital following a stabbing in Bridgend , South Wales .

The mother-of-two and housing association worker crashed into a wall on Coity Road after collapsing at the wheel just 300 yards into her journey.

South Wales Police confirmed that Barnfield sustained puncture wounds prior to the crash and have arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Barnfield's family paid tribute to her as the "kindest, most loving, bravest person in the world", while her employer Valleys to Coast expressed deep sadness.

The Welsh Ambulance Service dismissed social media rumours about a delayed response, confirming emergency crews arrived at the scene within minutes.
