I know the FAQ is there, but I'd like a bit more guidance in where and how to begin learning. For context, I only know a few German words (the ones that are culturally popular). So I'm beginning essentially from zero. I'm a native Spanish speaker and can speak fluent English as my second language. Would it be easier to learn German from Spanish or from English (I know English is a germanic language, but it is very different from modern German)? I'm doing it by myself, no classes (at least for the foreseeable future). This isn't to take any German test or anything, I just wanted to learn a new language. Why German? I used coin toss to decide between German or Italian. German won. I'm especially looking for books as the main media that can help me with grammar, language rules, sentence structures, and the generals of the language to begging learning.
