Anthropic’s latest AI models are quite different from their predecessors. They are designed for more autonomous, agent-first workflows involving design, coding, research, and auditing. The models are also optimized for complex, multi-step tasks.

This makes the prompts we used for previous AI models less effective, simply because newer AI models are smart enough to fill in some gaps in task understanding.

To get the best possible results from Opus 5.5, I want to share a collection of seven rules and habits that Anthropic recommends following when writing prompts. At the end of the article, I’ll also share a ready-to-use prompting framework that brings all seven rules together.
