A woman was arrested early Thursday morning after Las Vegas police said she stabbed her husband to death.

The stabbing was reported at 5:34 a.m. Thursday in the 6700 block of Del Rey Avenue, near Charleston and Rainbow boulevards, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

Officers found a man and woman inside an apartment suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The woman, identified as 53-year-old Naima Ahmadi, was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said Ahmadi fatally stabbed her husband before stabbing herself.

Ahmadi was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder with a deadly weapon.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
