I like to test consumer AI tools the same way I would test any software: control the inputs, change one variable at a time, and write down what changes. Here is the checklist I used on KDA Firestarter Dance AI , an image-to-video tool that animates one photo with the FIRESTARTER vogue routine.
1. Define a baseline input
Start with the "ideal" photo the tool asks for: one person, full body, standing, facing the camera, arms and legs visible, plain background, even light. This is your control. If the baseline result is poor, the issue is the model, not you.
2. Change one variable at a time
From the baseline, vary a single factor per run:
background (plain wall vs. busy room)
clothing (fitted vs. loose sleeves)
framing (full body vs. cropped at the knees)
pose (front-facing vs. slight angle)
Keep notes on what degrades. In my runs, hidden hands and cropped limbs had the biggest effect on the vogue arm frames.
3. Check the output spec
Confirm what you actually get.…
