Froot Loops is the most popular cereal in 13 US states (Getty)

A study by Concordia University, St. Paul, analysed Google Trends data from January 2025 to January 2026 to determine the most popular breakfast cereals in each US state.

The sugary snack Froot Loops was identified as the most popular in 13 states, including Florida, Texas, and Virginia, making it the favorite cereal nationwide.

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and General Mills’ Cheerios both ranked as the most popular in five states each, with other cereals like Trix, Cocoa Puffs, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch also featuring prominently.

Despite these preferences, breakfast cereal sales have seen a significant decline, dropping by over 13 per cent between July 2021 and July 2025, largely due to concerns over high sugar content and food processing.
