We have a home solar system with 9.6 KW of solar panels, a 10 KW inverter and a newly installed 32 KWH battery. We live in the Redlands (near Brisbane), Australia. Our problem is that 30 KWH per day of solar power is going back to the grid as feed-in (3 cents per KWH) when our battery is only partially charged (eg. 50%). We want our battery charged first before solar power is directed back to the grid at low feed-in rates. We don’t want to change our electricity plan to one with higher feed-in rates, because other aspects of our plan are attractive eg. the daily connection fee and grid usage rates etc. Is our problem with too much solar power going to the grid likely to be a solar set up issue, or are others experiencing a similar pattern of solar power distribution? We will ask our solar installer about this next week after the long weekend, but in the interim any advice or opinions would be much appreciated from knowledgeable owners of solar?
