Hi everyone, I’ve been self-studying German for about 2 months now, and I’m currently using Akelius Language. So far, I like it, but I’m not sure how effective it really is. My current routine is: I use Akelius as my main learning resource. I write down every new word and sentence I learn. While studying, I keep ChatGPT open and ask questions whenever I don’t understand something, like why it is einem instead of einen, or meiner instead of meinem. I also use Grok to practice speaking. The problem is that I still find it very hard to actually speak or have a conversation. I can introduce myself and say basic things, but real conversation still feels very difficult. Also, when I try to speak German, I don’t really translate words in my head like I used to when I was learning English. Instead, my brain tries to remember how the word looks written down, then I kind of “read” it in my head before saying it.
