Your character walks left on its own. Your camera slowly pans up. Before you reach for a screwdriver, stop: many of these symptoms are not stick drift at all. A game setting, a deadzone problem, or a second input device can look exactly like a broken stick. Checking in the right order saves you from opening a controller that was never faulty.

Start outside the game

Drift means the controller itself is sending movement when you are not touching the stick. So test the controller, not the game. Connect it to a PC, open a browser-based tester, and leave both sticks untouched for 30 seconds.

You can test your controller online in a couple of minutes, with no download. Watch the stick dot and the axis values. If the dot stays centered and the values stay at zero, the hardware is probably fine. If the dot creeps in one direction, or an axis value sits above zero at rest, you have real drift to investigate.
