Anthropic has more cash than almost every company in America.
The nearly 6-year-old artificial intelligence lab disclosed on Monday in an S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it had $112.4 billion in cash, plus another $19.3 billion in short-term investments, as of June 30.
Anthropic's total of $131.7 billion surpasses every non-bank U.S. company, except for Berkshire Hathaway and Alphabet , according to data compiled by CNBC and S&P Capital IQ.
As of midyear, Anthropic had more cash than Amazon , SpaceX , Meta and Microsoft . It had more than Nvidia and Apple combined.
Depending on how much the company raises in its initial public offering β and reports suggest it could top $100 billion β Anthropic could bump its hoard to more than $230 billion in cash.
So far, Anthropic hasn't shared specific details about its offering size, and it said in the filing that existing investors would also be selling into the IPO β meaning the company itself won't collect the entire fundraise.β¦
