When I began writing my first book, I was a hobbyist masquerading as an author.

I didn’t use structures. I didn’t have a system. I wrote only when the “muse” visited, which was rarely, and I treated the entire process as something I would do when I “felt like it.” Unsurprisingly, the manuscript languished in a drawer of half-baked ideas. It was a low-intention effort, and it yielded low-intention results.
