TL;DR: Hypothetical situation: A high-performing employee is told to slow down by a senior colleague so they don't make others look bad. Should they keep pushing or slow down to keep the peace? What would you do?

Hey everyone, I wanted to throw a interesting hypothetical scenario out there and see how you would handle it:

Imagine a new employee at an office job who has been hitting all their bonuses for the past few months. Management is thrilled with their performance, so they assign them to a challenging project.

The employee continues to excel, turning in double or triple the output compared to their coworkers with great quality.

One day, the manager’s "right-hand man" pulls this employee aside privately and tells them to slow down, claiming they are "ruining the standard for everyone else."

If you were in this employee's shoes, what would you do?

How should someone navigate this kind of corporate dynamic?
