Dad says mental anguish from deadly Airbnb fire has left him haunted by trapped wife’s screams: lawsuit

Airbnb is introducing new rules on November 20 to limit the cleaning tasks hosts can require from guests prior to check-out.

Under the updated policy, hosts may make reasonable requests like gathering used towels, but cannot require guests to wash dishes, strip beds, or do laundry.

The changes have sparked social media backlash from hosts who feel their properties are unprotected, while guests are celebrating the elimination of chore lists.

Airbnb stated the policy update responds to community feedback regarding confusing and onerous house rules.

The move comes as surveys indicate roughly 60 percent of American travelers prefer traditional hotels over short-term rentals due to cleaning fees and chore requirements.
