Now i know this sounds like a strawman argument but believe me I hear this argument way too often. "You are not that important what would [Insert company name] even do with your data except ads?" "Why are you this adamant of hiding you network activity? Do you have something to hide? It doesn't make sense unless you have a valid reason or have something to hide." and so forth. My stance: All of these are bad faith arguments. The point is not whether I'm an important person with valuable data or whether I'm hiding suspicious activity or whatever. The point is consent. If I am not consenting to getting my data collected, than that's it, end of the story. You don't get to ask why, you don't get to assume suspicious activity, you don't get to ask a "valid reason" from me.…
