Storm Austen batters UK with winds of up to 110mph

The Met Office has issued "danger to life" weather warnings across parts of the UK as Storm Boelo arrives.

Storm Boelo immediately follows Storm Austen, which left thousands of homes without power in Cornwall and caused school closures on Friday.

Amber wind warnings have been issued for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England, with gusts expected to reach up to 80mph in coastal areas.

Yellow rain warnings cover Wales and parts of England, with three flood warnings and 14 flood alerts currently active across England.

Dublin Airport announced several cancellations and delays on Saturday, while ferry services were also cancelled between Ireland and Pembrokeshire and on Scotland’s west coast.
