One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in east Henderson near Lake Las Vegas Saturday night, Henderson police said.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the Henderson Police Department said in an email.

Police said officers responded at about 8:25 p.m. to the crash, which happened on Lake Mead Parkway about half a mile east of the Lake Las Vegas entrance. The Henderson Fire Department also responded.

The other driver was transported to a local hospital, police said.

Lake Mead Parkway was closed in both directions between Lake Las Vegas Parkway and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area entrance station, police said.

“The closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period while the investigation is conducted,” police said in the Saturday night email. “Drivers should avoid the area and plan alternate routes.”
