I'm making a video about "the north wind" as it's associated with winter in folklore historically throughout the northern hemisphere (Greek, Roman, Northern European, Inuit, etc). I understand that wind coming from the north would bring colder air, but is there a reason this happens more frequently or more noticeably in fall/winter? Is this related to how cold fronts (and the pressure gradient) are stronger and often pull arctic/polar air masses southward? Just want to make sure I get my science right.
