But when it comes to finding a place to stay near Badlands National Park (and nearby Mount Rushmore), I have to be honest, the pickings are slim. This part of South Dakota is home to some wonderful nature, but due to its remoteness, you won't find a plethora of vacation rentals or luxury hotels in the area. The first time I visited the Badlands, it was after embarking with my family on a two-month-long cross-country road trip filled with national park visits, campground stays, and hikes across dozens of states.
