Passengers from hantavirus-hit ship spend first night at isolation facility
A hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius ocean expedition vessel has led to three deaths and eight people falling ill.
Eighteen American passengers from the affected cruise ship have returned to the US and are currently in quarantine.
One of the returning American passengers has tested positive for the rodent-borne hantavirus.
Sixteen of the Americans are isolated in a specialist quarantine unit at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, with two others monitored at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Public health officials report that the quarantined individuals are in 'good shape' and mostly asymptomatic, despite one confirmed positive case.
