Hi all,

I'm on a leave from work this year and have always wanted to go to the Granite Noir crime writing festival in Aberdeen. My grandfather was an immigrant from there.

I've been to Scotland a very long time ago, and had such a wonderful time that I'd love to go back.

There's just one problem: the Granite Noir festival is in mid-February.

Is it absolutely ludicrous to go to Scotland, and Aberdeen at the gateway to the Highlands no less, in February?

I'm Canadian in a city where we get very snowy/stormy winters. Not as dry as the Prairies, but easily -25 most of January. February isn't much warmer, but it is lighter.

I wouldn't be going expecting a tonne of warm temps, obviously, and I don't moody gloomy atmosphere for a shortish trip (10 days tops including travel time).
