Two 1952-vintage tilt-up warehouses were merged to create a new $23-million headquarters for the Walnut Valley Water District. This 23,000-sq-ft building sits behind a perforated aluminum rainscreen and features a kinetic courtyard wall of free-hanging panels.

With no original drawings on record for the existing buildings, targeted potholing and laser scanning revealed foundation depths, soil conditions and internal structure.…
