President Lula described Bolsonaro's exit from the country as shameful (Getty)
US authorities have agreed to issue visas to Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro just days after his election defeat to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Reports indicate Bolsonaro left Brazil for the United States after police cancelled his passports for failing to surrender them within 24 hours during a money-laundering probe.
President Lula described Bolsonaro's exit from the country as shameful, stating he should have remained in Brazil to prove his innocence.
Flavio Bolsonaro has refused to officially concede defeat, alleging voter irregularities and seeking an annulment, although his Liberal Party has recognised Lula's victory.
The move mirrors the actions of his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who fled to the US following his 2022 election loss before later returning to face a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup.
