In 2001, 15-year-old Mia Perry visited the Friends set to watch her older half-brother, Matthew Perry , film his character Chandler Bing’s wedding to Monica Geller ( Courteney Cox ). Matthew had recently left rehab, which made the happy scene difficult for his family to watch.

“We all knew how serious his disorder was,” Mia told People in October. As she watched his character begin married life, she wondered whether Matthew would ever get the same chance. He wanted a partner and children, she said, but his family wasn’t so sure what the future held for the actor, who struggled with substance use disorder.
