Scary Movie (colloquially known as Scary Movie 6 ) has launched to a $105 million global opening weekend, shattering every record the franchise had previously set and landing the Wayans family's comeback at No. 1 in the box office. The Miramax production that cost a total of $30 million, earned $55 million domestically from 3,490 locations — topping the previous franchise domestic record of $49.7 million set by Scary Movie 4 in 2006 . Overseas, the film added $50.5 million across 53 markets — a figure 75% larger than the franchise's prior international best, which had been held by Scary Movie 3.
