Team USA has a secret weapon for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, and like a lot of America’s other, more literal weapons, it’s hiding in the Utah desert. But this isn’t an underground nuke or military base – instead, a wave pool training facility. USA Surfing has announced a partnership with San Clemente-based Kamaka Responsible Development (“Kamaka”), naming them the title sponsor of the 2026 USA Surfing Championships. As part of this monumental multi-year commitment, a state-of-the-art wave pool currently under development in Utah will serve as the official American Training Center for the USA Surfing National Team when it opens its gates in late 2027.
