I’m looking for a resource to gauge whether a new word is worth adding to my flashcards. I’ve been learning Russian for over five years, and I’m working on reading Russian poetry among other authors for my exams. When reading older authors like Pushkin and Lermontov, I of course find many unfamiliar words. I can easily find a definition of the word on Yandex, but I don’t have a way to easily find out if the word is antiquated or still commonly used. Would a frequency dictionary be best for this purpose? Wiktionary? Are there corpora to use for this purpose? I know there are other threads about frequency dictionaries on this sub, but I didn’t find a good solution based on how I use Russian. Thank you!
