Zelensky says Russia plans to deploy 10,000 more North Korean troops

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un traveled to the Chinese border city of Dandong in his first known trip abroad in more than a year, according to South Korean officials.

Kim crossed the border on Saturday using the newly opened New Yalu River Bridge , where he was reportedly met by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

The unannounced visit occurred ahead of the anniversary of China 's entry into the Korean War and signifies a major push to boost bilateral trade.

Officials expect Kim to return to North Korea after visiting the border region rather than traveling to Beijing for upcoming Communist Party meetings.

The bridge crossing highlights strengthening economic and diplomatic ties between Pyongyang and Beijing following years of logistics delays and pandemic disruptions.
