Alternative surfboards have been, for some time now, all the rage. From asymmetrical shapes and foamless designs to boards made from recycled materials, surfboard experimentation continues to prosper. But a recent project involving Jack Robinson may have raised the bar—or at least cracked open a cold one. In a collaboration between Western Australia's Gage Roads Brew Company and Chris Garrett of Phantom Surfboards, a fully functional surfboard was handcrafted with a unique twist: it was filled with beer. The unconventional creation recently made its way into the ocean, with Australian surf legend Brenden "Margo" Margieson taking the board out for its maiden voyage. The session was equal parts surf test and novelty spectacle, as Margo paddled and rode the beer-filled craft to prove it was more than just a marketing gimmick.
