Southern Californians have been put on notice – it’s going to be a particularly sharky summer, this season, due to El Niño, the “blob” marine heatwave, and so on. And on Saturday, July 25th, one shark put on a show in Newport Beach, CA. Caught on camera, a bodyboarder was riding a wave towards the inside of the lineup, while on the outside, a juvenile great white shark measuring about six-feet-long sprang from the water, and launched itself into the air. It happened when Soaren Stevenson was filming his brother, a casual session of sponging waves during a healthy pulse of summertime hurricane swell in the popular Orange County surf town. Then, an unexpected guest stole the show in the background.
