What Is Redux Toolkit?

Redux Toolkit (RTK) is a library used to manage global state in React applications. It is the official, recommended way to write Redux logic.

In React, we use useState to manage data inside a component. But when multiple components need the same data, sharing and updating that data can become difficult.

For example, in an e-commerce application, the Navbar displays the cart count, and the Cart component displays the cart items. Both components need access to the same data.

Redux Toolkit solves this problem by storing shared data in one central place called the Redux Store .

Important Concepts

Store: Stores the application's global state.

Slice: Contains a piece of state and the functions used to update it.

Reducer: Defines how the state changes.

useSelector: Reads data from the Redux Store.

useDispatch: Dispatches actions to update the state.

How to Use Redux Toolkit

First, install Redux Toolkit and React Redux:

npm install @reduxjs/toolkit react-redux
