iPhone 18 Pro casing likely to experience same pros & cons as its predecessor

The iPhone 17 Pro switched from the titanium casing of earlier models to aluminum alloy, with a resulting mix of pros and cons. A new report says that the iPhone 18 Pro will use the same alloy with the same advantages and disadvantages. The material is highly effective at heat dissipation and was generally found to be robust in durability testing. However, one problem was noted by some iPhone 17 Pro owners … Some found that its aluminum body is more prone to scuffs and scratches than the titanium models that preceded it. Apple said these were caused by two unrelated issues, one of which appeared to be scratching but in fact wasn’t. The article highlighted several examples of wear and tear on iPhone 17 Pro demo units in Apple Stores and other retail partners. The marks were mostly contained to the back of the iPhone 17 Pro, especially around the MagSafe cutout. Apple tells me it has determined these imperfections are caused by worn MagSafe stands used in some stores.…
