Cardi B is reacting to Karmelo Anthony's murder conviction , arguing that his 35-year sentence is “extremely excessive.” The 33-year-old rapper first responded to the 19-year-old’s conviction on her X account on Tuesday night (June 9), writing, “Wow! Just freakin wow! DISGUSTING… This is not justice, this is trying to make an example!!!” She later took to Spaces on Wednesday (June 10), saying she understood the grief of both families as a parent and empathizing with Metcalf’s parents who “lost a child” and Anthony’s parents who also “lost a child to the system.” She described Anthony as a young boy “that was not raised in the trenches,” with involved parents, and who showed emotion after the incident and his sentencing, arguing that his reaction did not match someone who acted with intent to kill.
