Debashis Das writes at CNX Software about the Adafruit Metro ESP32-P4 Hydra , an Arduino UNO-shaped board built around the ESP32-P4 with 16MB of PSRAM and 16MB of NOR flash. An ESP32-C6 handles WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 LE, Thread, and Zigbee.

The MIPI DSI and CSI connectors use the Raspberry Pi 22-pin format with two data lanes each. The board works with the 5-inch and 7-inch Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 at 720 x 1280 with capacitive touch, and with Raspberry Pi Zero-style camera modules using the OV5647 sensor. Camera Module 3 with the IMX708 is not supported. There is also a USB 2.0 High-Speed host port, a microSD slot, a STEMMA QT connector, and LiPo charging.

Programming can be done with ESP-IDF, and TinyUF2 allows drag-and-drop firmware updates over USB. Support landed in CircuitPython 11.0.0-alpha.2, with the ESP32-P4 port still in alpha, and Arduino support is in progress.…
