Like many developers and DevOps engineers, I interact with MinIO and AWS S3 daily. Whether managing test artifacts, server backups, configuration files, or document stores, object storage is everywhere.
Yet the tools we use to explore it on the desktop feel stuck in 2010:
Cyberduck and WinSCP look and feel like legacy FTP clients from the Windows XP era.
The AWS S3 Web Console constantly logs you out, is slow to render deep prefixes, and requires multiple clicks just to inspect an object.
The official MinIO mc CLI is powerful, but explaining it to non-terminal team members (managers, QA, analysts) is always painful.
And the biggest pain point of all: Editing a file in S3.
If you need to tweak a config ( .yaml , .json ) or modify a Word/Excel document in a bucket, you usually have to:
Download it to your local disk.
Find it in your Downloads folder and open it.
Make changes and save.
Manually drag it back into the bucket and confirm overwrites.
Remember to clean up your local temp file.
